Women Veterans Program
The WVP at the VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) provides gender-specific services to all eligible and enrolled women Veterans as part of the Veterans Health Administration benefits package. Women Veterans can request to receive care from women’s health primary care providers trained in gender-specific care, including pap smears; mammography; bone-density testing; chronic disease management; STD and HIV screenings; menopausal support; infertility services; referrals to specialty care such as gynecology, mental health, recreation therapy, geriatrics and extended care; maternity care coordination; and other services. Additionally, the VANCHCS Women Veterans Program offers other specialized services for women. A few examples of specialized services include Breast Cancer Nurse Navigation including coordination from diagnosis through treatment, Postpartum Care Coordination, Lactation Support, a Heart Health Program, and an Incontinence Program. They also provide specialized social work services such as referrals for assistance when applying for VA disability compensation and Social Security and support and treatment groups with other women Veterans. Please join in outreach and appreciation events throughout the year, including workshops, retreats, resource fairs, focus groups, town hall meetings, and community campaigns for women Veterans.
